Why I’m Building This: A Passion Project for the Security Industry
It’s a quiet Saturday. I’ve been to the gym, the house is clean, and I’ve finally had a moment to sit down, reflect - and write.
I thought back to why I started this. The idea had been in my mind for years, but I wasn’t in a position to act on it. After a job overseas in the Indian Ocean, a stint in Australia and Southeast Asia, I returned to the UK; and three days later, I started building what I’d only ever talked about.
I’ve loved my time in the security industry, like many of us, I’ve always thought - how can we make it better?
Too often, I’ve seen good operators fall into bad situations. Fake job ads. Poor communication. Worst case, people getting caught up in scams - some even tied to criminal activity without knowing it.
In a cost-of-living crisis, people will take a chance when they’re desperate. That doesn’t make them naive - it makes them human.
I believe there’s a better way to connect companies and individuals. One that’s built on respect, clarity, and collaboration - not judgement.
The frustration needed somewhere to go. I kept seeing posts full of criticism - some valid, some not - but rarely anything constructive to fix it.
So I grabbed a notebook and began sketching out a tool: a central hub for the UK security industry.
It started as a hiring system; where companies search using filters that make sense for our world, and only available operators with industry specific search filters show up. But it’s grown from there.
Soon, companies will be able to share training courses, searchable by operators across the UK and with feedback from the industry, we’ll keep building what’s actually needed.
Most of us got into security because we care about protecting others. That care doesn’t stop at the tasking level - it should shape how we operate as a community.
These are the values I’m building on:
Integrity First - Trust, transparency, and personal responsibility
Discreet Excellence - Professionalism without noise
Empowerment Through Knowledge - Real tools, not hype
Practical Innovation - Solutions that fit real lives
Community and Intentional Growth - Giving back and lifting each other up
This isn’t about ego. It’s about building something solid and leaving the industry better than we found it
If you’re someone who cares about making things better; whether you’re a company, an operator, or a crossover professional - we would love to hear from you.
This platform is built to reflect the real needs of the industry, and that only works if the right people are involved.
